Ride a Bike and Wine about It

Saturday June 25, 2016 - Cycling the Italian Gourmet Way

This event was hosted by MaryFrancis Barbisan promoting "Your Year in Gear" with Dario Carzan of Siciclando Bike Tours of Italy.

Randal and I were up at 6 am for a day in the foothills of Alberta helping with the ride.

We arrived at Priddis Community Hall by 8 am and waited for a while before any one else arrived. We all relocated to a grassy area near a local park called Heritage Park.

Lynne, Kerry and the girls arrived in the black van loaded down with a tent, a table, a BBQ, a stove and three bikes.

The caterer was starting to set up for a breakfast of Eggs Benedict.

While the set up was being done we all went over to the local Coffee Shop named Jane's Addiction / Water's Edge Pub paid for by MaryFrancis.

As the 16 Cyclist started to arrive Lorraine check them off a list and told them to go get their morning coffee at Jane's Addiction. About 10 am and after everyone had had their Eggs Benedict and fruit the ride started.

The bike route consisted of either a 50 km or a 77 km distance. Everyone was eager to get rolling.

We were responsible for getting the water and snacks to designated spots along the route, our first one was in Brown-Lowery Provincial Park. We set up at the trail head into the park.

A few stopped before going on.

Lexi, Nikki and Adeline were in the support van with more Italian food on board.

Randal stopped at several places to take pictures of the riders as they flew by along the route.

Our next set up was at the mail boxes near Millerville Race Track. Lexi joined us with the cooler of food she had in the support van.

The bikers welcomed more Italian food and drink.

The event ended back at Priddis around 1:30 pm.

MaryFrancis severed champagne and made a toast to all that participated.

We all returned home to make ready for the evening Italian Supper as the "Cycling the Italian Gourmet Way" continued in Calgary.

So remember to "Discover It and Live It".
