Walk the Streets of Bakersfield

Dec 6, 2012 - Orange Grove RV Park, Bakersfield CA.

Leaving Premier RV Park in Redding, CA in the morning we arrived in Paterson on I-5 in early afternoon and spent only one night in Kit Fox RV Park.

We arrived at Orange Grove RV Park, east of Bakersfield, CA. We registered for a week for $195.00 and added two more nights for a total of 9 nights.

The Park is in the middle of an orange grove, with long and wide gravelled sites. There is plenty of room to put out the slides and park the truck behind the trailer.

The sun had come out so we could spend more time out doors. Every afternoon the Park fills up with big rigs for the night and by the next day they move on to more southern places.

One morning we awoke to noises of a machine out side the perimeter fence. The Orange Grove owners were moving large crates into the grove by a fork lift. At 9:00 am the migrant workers had arrived to pick the oranges. They were finished picking the grove within five hours.

It sounded like they were have a good time as they were talked, laughing and making noises all in Spanish. They could have been making fun of the people in side the compound recording and taking pictures of them.

The oranges inside the park fence are there for the enjoyment of the RV guests to pick. We can pick the riper oranges and not just one but a bag full to take with us on our journey. They are very sweet and come in a variety of sizes, eaten they are all great.

Until next time "Discover It and Live It".
